U.S. fiscal disconnect continues

The following was posted on The Hill:

The Obama administration has pledged $15 million to the foundation created to preserve the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced the grant Saturday that will go to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation, created in 2008 after the museum at Auschwitz said it lacked the funds needed for renovations. The group has sought more than $150 million in contributions from the international community…

$15 million…another $15 million? Where does this “drop-in-the-bucket” sum come from? It must be coming from some GIGANTIC bake sale. No? Then it must be coming from the Federal Reserve. No? Then could it be coming from our creditors the Chinese Socialist Republic? No? If not from any of those sources then it must be appearing out of thin air…er the magical U.S. printing press where all of our wishes are granted and every dream comes true.

I do realize that this money is going to a very worthy cause, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation, with the added bonus of symbolically poking our diplomatic finger in holocaust denier Mahmoud Ahmadinejihadist’s eye for developing nuclear weapons against our country’s wishes.

No matter the reason, this $15 million was and is not in our country’s budget.

We have been told that hard choices must be made. That sacrifices by this country’s citizens will be necessary in order to reduce the mounting debt we have allowed our government to accrue while nothing has been mentioned about what our government has or will sacrifice.

This Administration and this Congress’s first step to reduce the nation’s debt is to stop racking up more debt of any kind. Put down those loan applications and cut up your…our credit cards. Meet your obligations and stop incurring any further obligations.

By the end of this year your…our debt will reach 62 % of the country’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product). We will then be approximately 3 percentage points away from economic collapse. Our government is living beyond our means. The longer we wait to fix this fiscal disaster the larger it will get.

The truth is that our governments (at all levels) have a spending problem, an addiction. We intend to conduct an intervention this November in hopes of saving our country. If we are to save our country your reckless behavior must stop.
